The Good:  Depending on goalie, this could be good or bad, but Stalock’s hands are held low on his hips, but in front of his body in a narrowed and tight fashion. His arms are also very tight to his body and his elbows does not flare out away from his sides. This further displays a positional style, but he also has solid reactions. He does a great job of displaying confidence and creating a strong net presence by setting up outside of his blue paint on faceoffs. Stalock has the ability to play without any visible signs of tensity or nervousness, which can he can use to his advantage when coming in relief of a starter or playing in big games. He is a very athletic butterfly goalie with good mechanics, he’s mobile and can make the spectacular save when needed. He likes a heavy workload, he’s intense and can carry a team when he gets on a roll. Scouts say that he can be a long term starting goaltender in the near future, whether it’s with the Sharks or not.

The Bad: Like many good young goaltenders stuck in the AHL, there are some good puck stoppers around him. Antii Niemi and Tomas Greiss are both solid goalies, so NHL time will be limited.  He an be a bit too streaky at times, but that can be expected for a guy who plays a lot. He’s also a bit undersized by National Hockey League standards, and needs to keep working on his fundamentals and angles.
